We are so excited that Ken Wade, (LTC, (ret) USA) has joined our board and is serving on the medical programs team. OBI's history has included medical supplies within many of its programs especially in partnership with Technical Exchange for Christian Healthcare (TECH). We participated in programs partnering with other organizations through TECH in Sri Lanka (2006) following the tsunami there and in Haiti (2010) after the devastating earthquake. More recently we supported a hospital chaplaincy program in Sierra Leone before and after the Ebola outbreak there. We have sent medical supplies to Ukraine through our partner AZ for Ukraine. However, in the past few years we most often have been limited to taking them as part of our luggage!
OBI women have delivered tourniquets and other needed supplies in Ukraine since 2014. These include not only tourniquets but also bandages and mental health guides.
Ken recently attended the TECH and Global Medical Missions Conference in Louisville, KY. He took advantage of his time there and reinvigorated our participation and affiliation with TECH. OBI is still one of very few Christian humanitarian ministries that focuses on military, first responders and family support. Ken updated the attendees on what OBI has been doing the past year and they were excited to hear about our outreach.
We continue to fund medical programs as the demand increases in the places we serve and crises continue to emerge.
